Jumilla to promote wine tourism at the FITUR fair in Madrid
The Region of Murcia will be presenting a new Wine Tourism initiative at the largest annual tourism fair in the world
FITUR, the largest annual tourism fair in the world is being held in Madrid from 21st to 25th January, and the municipality of Jumilla will once again be present on the Region of Murcia stand promoting the wine route and other aspects of tourism in the northern Altiplano area of Murcia.
Mayoress Seve González, the councillor for Tourism (Asunción Navarro) and representatives of the Jumilla Wine Route including Silvano García were among those attending the presentation of the Murcia stand for the 2026 event, where one of the main aspects highlighted was the introduction of a new Wine Tourism Guide and Strategy for the Region of Murcia. In this sense Jumilla is in the spotlight on the Murcia stand this year, providing a great opportunity to showcase not only the local wine production but also its historical and cultural heritage and the rural tourism opportunities in the surrounding countryside.
The Region of Murcia stand at FITUR 2026 will occupy 1,000 square metres off floor space and enjoys an open, visually attractive design. Visitors to the stand can enjoy an “immersive tunnel” which makes it possible to enjoy virtual visits to some of the landscapes of the Region, while elsewhere Jumilla will be taking part in events such as wine and honey tasting.
Another feature is the “Espacio Monastrell”, named after the Monastrell grape which characterizes wine production in Jumilla and Yecla, which Will be open to the public during the weekend of the fair so that they can try different wines and other local produce.
For more local news, events and visiting information please contact the tourist office (telephone 968 780237, email oficinaturismo@jumilla.org) or go to the home page of Jumilla Today.
