Dive into summer at the new and improved Jumilla municipal pools
The municipal swimming pools in Jumilla will open their doors to the public this weekend, offering a refreshing escape from the heat just in time for summer. The Councillor for Sports, María Herrero, expressed her gratitude to the dedicated team who worked tirelessly to ensure that the pools were closed for only four days. The indoor municipal pool at La Hoy Sports Centre closed last Sunday June 16 for essential maintenance, but the summer pool is now ready to welcome swimmers starting Friday June 21 at 3pm.Ms Herrero shared that her department is well aware of past complaints and suggestions regarding the weather and the desire to keep the pools open. This year, they have successfully minimised the closure period, providing a much-needed respite from the heat for Jumilla's residents and visitors.During the brief closure, important maintenance and repair work was carried out to ensure optimal conditions for swimmers. The most significant task involved repairing the medium-sized pool's drain pipe to stop leaks.Additionally, small defects in all of the pools were addressed, including cleaning, disinfection and necessary fixes. The medium-sized pool was also painted, giving it a fresh new look. The Sports Department has gone the extra mile to enhance the swimming experience. They have repaired and commissioned chlorine and PH analysers to better control the water quality, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for swimmers. The grass has been reseeded, and braided fencing and upper shade mesh have been installed to reduce visibility from the outside, enhancing privacy for swimmers. From this weekend, the pools will be open every day from 11am until 8pm. These hours will be extended to 8am-9pm, Monday to Thursday, from July 1.For more local news, events and visiting information visit the home page of Jumilla Today
