Jumilla leads the new Murcia wine tourism strategy at FITUR in Madrid
The Region of Murcia tourist board highlights the importance of Jumilla as a tourist destination
On Thursday 21st January the Region of Murcia tourist board made a presentation at the FITUR tourism fair in Madrid outlining new strategies relating to wine tourism, and the municipality of Jumilla was once again at the forefront of the initiative. Among the new tools designed to promote the sector is the production of a 200-page document serving as a route map, including 110 establishments affiliated to the wine routes of Jumilla, Yecla and Bullas.
The strategy was presented by sociologist and wine expert Lluís Tolosa, who made it clear that Jumilla is leading the way in making wine tourism a motor for economic and cultural change in northern and north-western Murcia.
Jumilla has also been promoting its 600-year-old Semana Santa traditions and the multi-faceted fiestas held every August, and on Saturday is taking part in a number of activities and events on the Region of Murcia stand at FITUR. These include honey tasting at 11.00, wine tasting at 12.00, a presentation by the Bodegas Luzón winery at 13.00, Patio de Luces at 14.00, the Bodegags Carchelo winery at 17.00 and Bodegas Juan Gil at 19.00.
On Sunday, the last day of FITUR, Bodegas Juan Gil are again in evidence at 13.00, preceded at 11.00 by ham slicing and tasting presented by La Jamonería.ç
