Jumilla cleans up the area around the 17th-century aqueduct just outside the town

The Acueducto del Pontón stands in an area formerly used for salt production in Jumilla

At a cost of just 2,500 euros the Town Hall of Jumilla has completed a clean-up of the area around the historic Acueducto del Pontón just outside the town, eliminating the uncontrolled littering and fly-tipping which has blighted this attractive location for years.

The aqueduct is in an area formerly used for salt production and was built as long ago as the 17^th century and is in a popular area for walkers and hikers. Now, however, it is likely to attract even more people and the views towards the castle will not be spoilt by the litter in the foreground!
