Los Alcazares Today is a website set up by Murcia Today specifically for residents of the urbanisation in Southwest Murcia, providing news and information on what’s happening in the local area, which is the largest English-speaking expat area in the Region of Murcia.
When submitting text to be included on Los Alcazares Today, please abide by the following guidelines so we can upload your article as swiftly as possible:
Send an email to editor@spaintodayonline.com or contact@murciatoday.com
Attach the information in a Word Document or Google Doc
Include all relevant points, including:
Who is the organisation running the event?
Where is it happening?
When?
How much does it cost?
Is it necessary to book beforehand, or can people just show up on the day?
…but try not to exceed 300 words
Also attach a photo to illustrate your article, no more than 100kb
July and August Free open-air summer cinema in the centre of Lorca
Barbie, Chariots of Fire and Mission Impossible are on the bill in the Plaza de Calderón in Lorca
Over the last 60 years or so the outdoor summer cinemas on hot summer nights have become something of an institution throughout Spain, as both inland and on the coast people gather with their chairs and enjoy the latest movie hits accompanied by the sounds of cans being opened and sunflower seeds being masticated!
This year the Plaza de Calderón in the centre of Lorca is hosting a series of screenings beginning at 22.00 on Tuesdays, featuring films for all ages and tastes – and the events are absolutely free of charge!
The program for the summer in Plaza de Calderón is the following:
July 2: Ha nacido una estrella (A Star is Born, directed by Bradley Cooper, starring Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper, Sam Elliot.
July 9: Padre no hay más que uno 3, a Spanish comedy featuring Santiago Segura, Toni Acosta, Loles León. Suitable for all ages.
July 16: As Bestas, another Spanish film starring Marina Foís, Denis Ménochet, Luis Zahera.
July 23: Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera.
July 30: Super Mario Bross, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic.
August 6: Carros de fuego (Chariots of Fire), directed by Hugh Hudson, starring Ben Cross, Ian Charleston, Nigel Havers.
August 13: Misión imposible, Dead Reckoning (Sentencia Mortal), directed by Christopher McQuarrie, starring Tom Cruise, Hailey Atwell, Simon Pegg.
August 20: Novembre, a French film directed by Cédric Jimenez, starring Jean Dujardin, Anaïs Demoustier, Sandrine Kimberlain.
August 27: Campeonex, directed by Javier Fesser, starring Elisa Hipólito, Sergio Olmo, Juan Margallo.
Outdoor cinema is also programmed in the villages of Avilés and Zarzadilla de Totana in July and in Almendricos and Coy during August.
