July 6 Loreena McKennitt live in concert in Murcia
The Canadian singer-songwriter appears at the Plaza de Toros in the city of Murcia
Now 67, Loreena McKennitt is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer who writes, records, and performs world music with Celtic and Middle Eastern influences and is renowned for her refined soprano vocals. Over the course of a long career she has achieved record sales of more than 14 million worldwide.
In recognition of her talents and dedication she has won a number of awards, among them the Order of Canada, the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and as part of her latest tour she is appearing during the summer 2024 Murcia On festival.
Her concert at the Plaza de Toros in the city of Murcia on 6th July begins at 21.30 with tickets priced at 35, 40 and 55 euros and available online here.
In very general terms Loreena McKennitt's music has been described as World or Celtic music but is sometimes classified as folk. Although she has been compared to Enya, she relies on far more traditional and classical sources including "The Lady of Shalott" by Lord Tennyson, the Northumbrian murder ballad "The Twa Sisters" and "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes, of which a musical version was also created by John Otway.
