A legendary saxophonist and the music of the Mississippi on a double bill at the open-air auditorium of Parque Almansa in San Javier

Camille Thurman, New York-born saxophonist, vocalist, and composer, is acclaimed as one of the most brilliant jazz artists of our time and was the first woman in over thirty years to be hired as a saxophonist by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, led by the great trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.
Fluid, powerful, and brilliant on the tenor sax, her sound has been compared to that of giants like Ben Webster, Joe Henderson, and Dexter Gordon, while her beautiful voice and great scat singing ability to Betty Carter and Ella Fitzgerald. In her debut at Jazz San Javier she is accompanied by the quartet led by Darrell Green, one of the most prestigious drummers on the current jazz scene.

Take Me To The River All Stars is a fantastic collection of some of New Orleans' finest musical talent, including Cyrill Neville, Omari Neville, Big Chief Bo Dollis (of The Wild Magnolias), Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph, Ian Neville, Robert Mercurio (of the iconic band Galactic), Joe Ashlar, and acclaimed filmmaker Martin Shore.
Born out of a desire to preserve the rich musical heritage of New Orleans and Memphis, two cities united by the Mississippi River and a deep cultural, musical, and historical legacy, this project is a journey through funk, soul, and rhythm and blues, through the heart of the Mississippi River's musical legacy.
