One of Spain's most popular travelling food festivals is heading to Torrevieja this Friday, with Burger Mania setting up on Los Náufragos beach from July 3 to 12.

 

Organised by Discovery Productions, the event runs daily from 8pm to midnight and brings together some of the country's best food trucks for ten days of burgers, live music and a whole lot of friendly competition.

 

More than 20 varieties of burger will be on offer, with participants travelling from León, Ávila, Segovia, Asturias, Madrid, Valencia, Castellón, Galicia and Palma de Mallorca, alongside a local favourite in the form of Octopus Burgers from Santa Pola. Prices start from €12, with gluten-free options and a children's menu available so the whole family can get involved.

 

The event doubles as a championship, with the public doing the judging. Attendees can taste and vote for their favourites, with the most popular burgers going through to a grand final packed with surprises.

 

For those with a sweet tooth, there are dedicated dessert trucks serving cheesecakes and homemade waffles loaded with toppings including fresh strawberries. Fresanto will also be on hand with its chocolate-covered strawberries, which have become something of a crowd favourite at previous events.

 

Burger Mania has already toured a string of Spanish towns and cities, from Galicia and the Balearic Islands to Catalonia and Valencia, building up a loyal following along the way. The Torrevieja stop is a chance for locals and visitors alike to sample what all the fuss is about in a relaxed, beachside setting with live music thrown in for good measure.
