July 17 to 26 The annual Theatre Week in Caravaca includes a Friends musical!
Seven varied events at the open-air venue of the bullring in Caravaca de la Cruz
The program has been unveiled for the 44th annual Theatre Week in Caravaca de la Cruz, which is being held from July 17 to 26, with the highlight for non-Spanish speaking audiences perhaps being the staging of “Friends, a Musical Parody” on Saturday 25th.
The seven events included in the 2025 edition of the event are a blend of the classics and the contemporary, as can be seen below;
Thursday July 17: “La gramática”, written and directed by Ernesto Caballero and starring well-known actress María Adánez. Starts at 22.30.
Friday July 18: “Abrefácil”, starring Pablo Puyol. Starts at 22.30.
Saturday July 19: “Ifigenia”, based on the classical Greek tragedies and inviting the audience to reflect on the topic of violence and women. Starring Juanjo Artero and María Garralón, who worked together on the legendary Spanish TV series 'Verano azul' many years ago and have since been seen in “El comisario” and “Farmacia de guardia”, among others. Starts at 22.30.
Sunday July 20: “Caperucita y Feroz”, a family show based on the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood, a modern version with some unexpected plot twists! Starts at 21.00.
Thursday July 24: “Querida Agatha”, a drama concerning a fictional meeting between the writers Agatha Christie and Benito Pérez Galdós, starring Carmen Morales and Juan Meseguer. Starts at 22.30.
Friday July 25: The Broadway musical “Friends, a musical parody”, based on the unforgettable TC show of the 1990s and early 2000s. Starts at 22.30.
Saturday July 26: “El Aspirante”, a tragi-comedy concerning the themes of fate and personal achievement. Starts at 22.30.
Season tickets for the 6 events starting at 22.30 are on sale at 60 euros online here, as well as at the tourist information point in Plaza del Arco and at the ticket office of the bullring two hours before each show.
Tickets for individual events will be on sale online in the near future.
The poster for the Theatre Week, designed by José Manuel Puebla, pays tribute both to the bullring of Caravaca (where all of the performances are staged) and to some of the greatest writers in history, such as Shakespeare, Calderón de la Barca, Lope de Vega and Federico García Lorca.
