July 11 to October 25 Leonardo da Vinci exhibition in Lorca
Los Inventos de Leonardo at the MASS museum focuses on some of the inventions of the Renaissance genius
The Paso Azul brotherhood, one of those who organize and take part in the renowned Semana Santa celebrations of Lorca every Easter, is holding an exhibition entitled Los Inventos de Leonardo until 25th October this year, with exhibits illustrating some of the brilliant inventions created by Leonardo da Vinci including wings for artificial flight measuring 5 metres across, the bicycle, a fighting chariot, the helicopter and a sculpted self-portrait.
The exhibits are, of course, replicas, but they are on a 1:1 scale and follow the exact instructions left by Leonardo in documents such as the Codex Atlanticus (1490). They illustrate to a certain degree the extent of the man’s genius, which encompassed mathematics, painting, sculpture, architecture, engineering, anatomy, biology and astronomy as well as other disciplines.
The exhibition can be visited at the MASS museum during normal opening hours (until October Monday to Saturday 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.30 to 20.00, Sundays and public holidays 10.30 to 14.00. From 1st October onwards afternoon opening hours are brought forward 30 minutes).
