Improvements rolling out across Jumilla: New bins, CCTV and a revamped playground
The Town Council has just approved better waste services, a rebuilt children’s park and new security measures around Jumilla

There are lots of positive changes happening in Jumilla right now as the Council moves forward with several new projects to improve everyday life in the town.
At this week’s Local Government Board meeting held on Monday July 21, one of the key announcements was the launch of a new traffic and security video surveillance system. Cameras will be installed in strategic locations around the town to help improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
Also getting the green light was the revamp of the children’s park in Ronda de Poniente, which was damaged by fire some time ago. The area will be fitted with brand new play equipment and more trees will be planted to create a greener, more inviting space for families to enjoy.
In another move to improve services across town, the Council has approved the purchase of new waste bins. This is all part of a long-term plan to update Jumilla’s street cleaning and rubbish collection system, which is set to launch in September.
A few other practical updates were also confirmed. These include the award of a contract for concierge and access control in municipal buildings, which will help ensure public facilities run smoothly and the go-ahead for a temporary building for the Mercado de Abastos.
Looking ahead to the summer events calendar, preparations are already underway for the 2025 Wine Festival and it was also confirmed that Shinova will be performing as part of Jumilla’s August Fiesta.
Finally, the Council reminded residents about waste disposal rules, advising that fines for dumping items in the street can range from €2,000 to €20,000. Environment Councillor Antonio Pérez encouraged residents to use the free door-to-door collection service, which can be requested free of charge.
