In order to be able to work or study in Spain, you may be required to show that any academic certificates you own – such as university degrees and professional training qualifications – have been officially recognised under the Spanish system.

 

Known in Spanish as the process to ‘homologar’ or ‘convalidar’ your documents, it essentially entails the standardisation and validation of foreign documents with their Spanish equivalent.

 

Not all documents are eligible to be recognised in this way. First, they need to be translated into Spanish by a sworn translator and then submitted formally to the official government channels for validation.

 

This is not one of those processes you can complete yourself online in Spain, as you will need to have the documents stamped and processed via the official channels as a way to validate that your academic documents are legal in Spain.
