Recently in Jumilla, the Bodegas Viña Elena winery hosted the second annual workshop day of professional cheese cutting and tastings for the flavours of the northwestern territory of Murcia, to provide niche training for Jumilla’s cheesemakers and wine merchants and enable them to continue to compete on a national level with the top tasting professionals in the sector.

 

These specialist sessions, which are organised by the Asociación Nordeste Región de Murcia, are designed as training events aimed at professionals in the sector and count on the participation of recognised specialists and different presentations.

 

This year’s edition was inaugurated by Jumilla Mayor Seve González, who firmly stands behind Jumilla’s wine, cheese and other boutique gastronomy businesses as a cornerstone of the municipality’s economy via exports, both nationally and overseas, and thanks to the tourism opportunities that such activities create.

 

By all accounts, this year’s cheese and wine training day was a success, and contributes to keeping Jumilla as one of the most recognised names in Spain when it comes to wine production, wine tastings and gastronomy.
