Heatwave backs off but it's still staying hot: Murcia weekend weather forecast July 9-12
Thursday marks the end of an exceptional heatwave that brought Murcia its highest temperatures of the year so far, but the Region remains very hot and dry through to Sunday

Maximum temperatures in Murcia, Thursday July 9
The Region of Murcia has just lived through one of its most intense heat episodes of 2026, with Aemet issuing an “extraordinary” hazard warning for Tuesday and “important” hazard warnings for Wednesday and Thursday as temperatures in Murcia city soared to 43ºC on Wednesday – the highest of the current heatwave.
This Thursday remains very hot, with Aemet still maintaining an orange weather warning for high temperatures, but from Friday onwards the heat begins to ease noticeably, dropping to a more manageable – though still very warm – 36ºC through the weekend.
Thursday July 9
Murcia weather warnings, Thursday July 9Thursday is still very much a heatwave day. The Aemet warning is in force for maximum temperatures across the whole Region, with the forecast for partly cloudy skies throughout the day and a maximum of 41ºC in Murcia city in the afternoon. Overnight minimums will not drop below 24ºC – one of the warmest nights of the year so far – making for quite an oppressive 24 hours.
Friday July 10
Murcia weather warning, Friday July 10Friday brings the first sign of the heatwave breaking, though it would be wrong to call it a cool day. Aemet is forecasting a cloudless sky and maximums of 39ºC: still extremely warm, but a little step down from the 41-43ºC of the previous two days. A yellow-level low hazard warning is in force for the central part of the Region, while night-time minimum temperatures remain high at around 23ºC.
Saturday July 11
Murcia weather forecast, Saturday July 11Saturday is a bit cooler, with Aemet forecasting partly cloudy skies and a maximum of 36ºC, which is still well above average July temperatures but a full five degrees lower than Thursday’s peak.
However, the humidity is beginning to creep back up slightly, ranging from 30% to 90% across the day. On the one hand, Aemet says, it’s a sign that the exceptionally dry air mass of the peak heatwave is retreating, but on the other it will give the heat a stickier feel for the weekend.
Sunday July 12
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Murcia, Sunday July 12Sunday is almost exactly the same as Saturday: partly cloudy, maximum 36ºC, 0% rain, and a light easterly breeze of 10kmh. There are no weather warnings forecast for Sunday and no rain is expected.
Looking ahead to the following week, temperatures are likely to remain high but without a return to the extreme levels of the mid-week heatwave.
Minimum and maximum temperatures in Murcia this weekend
- Thursday July 9: Min 24ºC; Max 41ºC
- Friday July 10: Min 23ºC; Max 39ºC
- Saturday July 11: Min 22ºC; Max 36ºC
- Sunday July 12: Min 22ºC; Max 36ºC
