Have your say now! Residents invited to vote in Alhama's 2026-2027 Participatory Budget
You can choose from 60 proposals covering investments, activities and community programmes as the latest phase of voting gets underway

Alhama de Murcia Town Council has opened the voting phase of its 2026-2027 Participatory Budget, giving residents the opportunity to decide which projects and initiatives they believe should be prioritised in the municipality.
A total of 60 proposals have been put forward for public consideration, including 30 physical investment projects and 30 activities and programmes. The initiatives were selected following a technical review of suggestions submitted by residents and were ranked according to the results of the Prioritisation Day held on May 28.
Before voting began, the Department for Citizen Participation convened a meeting of the Local Citizen Participation Committee, where local associations were tasked with approving the final lists of proposals that would go forward to the public vote.
The council is offering both online and in-person voting options in an effort to encourage as many residents as possible to take part in the process.
Online voting will be open from June 19 to 29 through the town council’s Citizen Participation Portal at www.participacion.alhamademurcia.es.
Residents who prefer to vote in person will be able to do so at a range of locations across the municipality. Voting will take place at:
- Friday June 19: IES Valle de Leiva and IES Miguel Hernández secondary schools
- Monday June 22: State primary schools
- Tuesday June 23: The weekly market
- Thursday June 25 and Friday 26: Alhama Town Hall
- Saturday June 27 and Sunday 28: In the municipality’s outlying districts
Once voting has closed, specialists from the GECIS Research Group at the University of Murcia will carry out a public count of the votes on June 30 in the Town Hall’s Plenary Hall. The proposals which receive the most support, based on a combination of online and in-person votes, will then be announced.
Through the Participatory Budget initiative, Alhama Town Council aims to strengthen public involvement in decisions relating to investments, activities and projects that benefit the wider community.
