Further six deaths in Valencia region: Covid Update July 27
1,876 daily infections and 2,158 recoveries across the region's three provinces, including Alicante.
A mixed bag of data has been released by the Valencia region's Ministry of Health which shows a drop in new infections, though there have still been 1,876 positives confirmed in the last 24 hours, and, tragically, a further six deaths bringing the total to 10 in two days.
On a positive note, recoveries outweigh new diagnosis, but the impact of the fifth wave of the pandemic continues to be felt in hospitals with almost 700 patients being treated on wards, with those in a critical condition remaining just below the 100 mark.
In terms of the region's 14-day cumulative rate, this has jumped 30 points to 586 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, below the national average of 702, and that of Catalonia (1.088), and Madrid (718), but higher than the rate in the Region of Murcia (424) and Andalusia (533).
New cases: 1,876 new cases of coronavirus confirmed by PCR or antigen testing, (down from 3,482 on Monday) bringing the total number of positives to 454,159 people. By provinces: 767 in Alicante (162,375 in total); 882 in Valencia (244,748 in total); and 227 in Castellón (47,034 in total).
Hospitals: There are currently 697 Covid patients being treated in Valencian hospitals (down from 715), of whom 92 are in ICU (up one since Monday): 145 in the province of Alicante, 24 of them in the ICU; 477 in the province of Valencia, 59 in ICU; and 75 in the province of Castellón, nine in ICU.
Recoveries: 2,158 people have recovered since the last update, meaning 428,449 people have been given the all-clear since the start of the pandemic: 154,550 in Alicante; 229,455 in Valencia; and 44,385 in Castellón.
Fatalities: Sadly, there have sadly been six reported deaths in the last seven days, meaning the total remains at 7,488: 2,852 in Alicante; 3,824 in Valencia; and 812 in Castellón.
Active cases: There are currently 29,684 active cases, which represent 6.38 per cent of the total positives.
Vaccinations: A total of 3,131,208 people have now received at least one dose and 2,606,398 are fully immunised. By provinces: 938,081 in Alicante; 1,359,205 in Valencia; and 309,112 in Castellón.
