Fiestas opening times for Jumilla castle, museums and other tourist destinations in August
An influx of visitors head for Jumilla every August for the Fiestas de la Vendimia
The annual “Fiestas de la Vendimia, which coincide with the start of the grape harvest in the wine-producing area of Jumilla, begin in earnest on 13th August and last ten days, bringing thousands of visitors to the north of the Region of Murcia as they join in the fun, musical events and wine-tasting, not to mention the famed wine-soaked parade on Saturday 22nd!
In response to the influx of visitors, the main year-round tourist attractions in the town are open during lengthier (and somewhat modified) hours for the duration of the festivities, operating the following timetables:
Jumilla castle, a restored fortress which has stood on the hill behind the modern town since 1461:
Saturday 15th August: 10.00 to 14.00 and 19.00 to 21.00
Sunday 16th August: 10.00 to 14.00
Monday 17th August: closed
18th to 23rd August: 10.00 to 14.00
The Casa del Artesano, home to the traditional arts and crafts of the north of Murcia:
15th to 23rd August: 10.00 to 14.00 except Monday 17th August (closed)
Museums, including the Archaeology, Ethnology and Natural Science sections of the Jerónimo Molina museum, the Wine Museum, and the Casa de la Música:
Saturday 15th August: 11.00 to 14.00
Sunday 16th August: 11.00 to 14.00
Monday 17th August: closed
18th and 19th August: 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00
Thursday 20th August: 10.00 to 14.00 (procession during the early evening)
Friday 21st August: 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00
Saturday 22nd August: 10.00 to 14.00 (Cabalgata del Vino during the early evening)
Sunday 23rd August: 11.00 to 14.00
