February 21 Bernarda Alba el Musical in San Javier

A musical adaption of García Lorca’s masterpiece at the Winter Theatre in San Javier

The Teatro de Invierno (Winter Theatre) in the Parque Almansa in San Javier has announced a varied program for the first few months of 2025, the third event on February 21 being “Bernarda Alba el Musical”, a musical version of the classic Spanish play “La Casa de Bernarda Alba”.

The platy was penned by Federico García Lorca in 1945 and tells the story of the dominant rural matriarch Bernarda Alba after her husband's death, imposing an eight-year mourning period on her five daughters aged in their twenties and thirties. This is the first version in Spanish of the musical devised by Michael John LaChiusa and is performed by the Compañía Agosto del 36.
