February 14 Carnival parade and other celebrations in Caravaca de la Cruz
A children’s party, the main parade and the Burger Week event in Caravaca
The poster for this year’s Carnival celebrations in Caravaca de la Cruz, the capital of the north-west of the Region of Murcia, has been designed by primary school student Sergio Martínez García and is being used to promote the events taking place in the city to mark the start of Lent in traditional (and sometimes less traditional) fashion!
The Carnival schedule in Caravaca for 2026 includes the following:
Saturday February 14
11.00 to 14.00: Children’s party in the Plaza del Arco, with bouncy castles, music, workshops and games.
18.30: The main Carnival parade from Avenida de la Constitución to the Plaza del Arco, including the winning floats from the Candelaria fiestas in Barranda in late January.
Following the parade there is a "Carnaval Fest" for youngsters in the Plaza del Arco with music provided by DJ Gaby Reales.
Sunday February 15
A special edition of the Mercado del Peregrino (Pilgrim's Market), an arts and crafts market which on this occasion is adopting the theme of Carnival. Alongside the usual array of stands and stalls there are chances to enjoy free hot chocolate and "tortas fritas" cakes, as well as a children's mask workshop, costume competitions, balloon modelling, face painting and music.
For more local events, news and visiting information contact the local tourist office (telephone 968 702424) or go to the home page of Caravaca Today.
