Don't miss the eclipse: Espacio Mediterráneo is giving away free certified glasses for one of summer's most spectacular events
With just days to go until a rare solar eclipse lights up the skies, here's how to get your hands on a free pair of certified viewing glasses
There are summer moments you plan for, and then there are moments that just happen to fall perfectly into place. On August 12, the skies above the Costa Cálida are putting on a show, and Espacio Mediterráneo wants to make sure you're ready for it. A solar eclipse is one of those genuinely rare natural events that stops you in your tracks, and the team at the shopping centre have come up with a brilliant way to mark the occasion: 1,000 pairs of free certified eclipse glasses, up for grabs right now. This isn't something that happens every summer. Solar eclipses are extraordinary events, and viewing one safely makes all the difference between a memorable experience and a missed opportunity. Certified glasses are essential, and Espacio Mediterráneo is handing them out completely free of charge to anyone with the shopping centre's app downloaded on their phone.
How to get your free glasses
The process couldn't be simpler. Hostesses from Espacio Mediterráneo will be out and about over the next few days at two locations:
- August 8 and 9: Find them at Amoladeras beach in La Manga, from 11.00am to 1.00pm
- August 10 and 11: Head to the shopping centre itself, where they'll be distributing glasses from 6.00pm to 8.00pm
To collect your pair, you'll need the Espacio Mediterráneo app downloaded on your phone. Simply show your app ID to one of the hostesses and they'll hand over your glasses on the spot. One pair per person, and with 1,000 units available on a first come, first served basis, it's worth getting in early.
Why bother with certified glasses?
Looking directly at a solar eclipse without proper protection can cause serious damage to your eyes, even if it only lasts a few seconds. Certified eclipse glasses filter out the harmful rays that ordinary sunglasses simply can't block. The glasses being distributed by Espacio Mediterráneo meet the required safety standards, so you can watch the whole event in complete comfort and safety.
A summer full of surprises
The eclipse giveaway is just one part of what Espacio Mediterráneo has been putting together this summer. The shopping centre, which is one of the region's most popular retail and leisure destinations, has a habit of going the extra mile for its customers, from in-centre promotions and competitions to events like this one that bring the whole community together.
To make sure you don't miss whatever comes next, download the Espacio Mediterráneo app, follow the centre on social media and turn on notifications. With the eclipse just days away and glasses going fast, now's the time to act.
The skies are putting on a show. Make sure you've got a front-row seat.
