December 27 Jumilla's Christmas fun run returns, with festive spirit and free entry
Join the 5km urban race and family-friendly events through Jumilla’s historic heart
Get your running shoes ready for one of Jumilla’s most eagerly awaited Christmas traditions: the 2025 Christmas Popular Race, set for Saturday December 27. Organised by the Ayuntamiento’s Sports Department, the event kicks off and finishes at the picturesque Jardín de la Glorieta and features a lively 5-kilometre urban circuit for adults alongside tailored shorter distances for children.María Herrero, Jumilla’s Councillor for Sports, highlighted the community values at the heart of the event. “This event combines health, community, and fun in a day designed for all ages,” she said, noting that registration is completely free and aimed at promoting physical and mental wellbeing during the festive season.
The younger runners get their turn first, starting promptly at 5.00pm. The children’s races are split into age groups: Under 8s run 200 metres, Under 10s 400 metres, Under 12s 600 metres, and the Under 14/Under 16 category will cover 2,500 metres. The adults take to the streets at 6.00pm, tackling two laps of the historically rich old town and notable local landmarks.Registrations are now open, and a cap of 400 participants means early sign-up is recommended. Every runner receives a commemorative t-shirt, and event safety is ensured with medical ambulance coverage, refreshment points, and a designated pick-up area starting from 3.00pm in the Jardín de la Glorieta.

Adding to the festive fun, the race hosts a beloved Christmas Costume Contest, with cash prizes of €100, €75, and €50 for the best three outfits. “This race isn’t just a competition: it’s a celebration of sport,” said Councillor Herrero, inviting locals and visitors alike to come along and share in a magical, fun, and healthy afternoon exploring Jumilla’s streets.
Participants will follow a scenic route threading through Cánovas del Castillo, Rambleta del Convento, Cura Navarro, and other emblematic streets, looping back to finish at the Jardín de la Glorieta - a perfect way to embrace the holiday spirit.
The Ayuntamiento warmly encourages everyone to join in the festivities and soak up the communal joy of this wonderful seasonal event.
