December 14 Free ENGLISH LANGUAGE guided tour in San Pedro del Pinatar, Life in the World of Salt
Wildlife and salt production in the spectacular landscape of the Regional Park of San Pedro

The Regional Park of Las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar is a wetland area which includes salt flats, dunes and beaches between the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean, and is not only a visitor attraction but also an area of environmental importance due to the wildlife, particularly the birdlife (including flamingos).
Throughout the year it’s a thoroughly enjoyable place to visit for anyone who enjoys walking, cycling, birdwatching or just being outdoors. Most of the park consists of the salt flats themselves, which are divided into different flat pond areas by small earth ridges or stone walls, while a part is private property still used to produce salt on an industrial scale.
This guided walk in the Regional Park, CONDUCTED ENTIRELY IN ENGLISH, follows a path which crosses the saltwater pools until reaching the Coterillo pine grove, beginning at 11.00 at the entrance of the Regional Park in front of the Las Salinas Visitors Centre (click for map).
It's an easy walk over a distance of just 2 kilometres, but with frequent stops along the way to see the local flora and fauna it is expected to last around 2 hours. Walkers are recommended to bring comfortable clothes and footwear, sunscreen, cap, snack food, water and binoculars to observe the birdlife in the area.
Please avoid brightly coloured clothes, so as not to alarm the birdlife!
The event is free of charge and in Spanish: prior registration is required here.
Further information is available from the tourist office of San Pedro del Pinatar (Avenida de las Salinas, 55, telephone 968 182301 / 682 187677, email inscripciones@sanpedrodelpinatar.es).
