Corvera airport smashes passenger records with an incredible 50% surge in March
Murcia International handled nearly 56,000 passengers in March and is now on the verge of breaking its all-time monthly record

After years of struggling, Corvera airport is having a truly remarkable start to the year. The Region of Murcia International Airport has just posted a 49.4% increase in passengers for March, handling 55,568 travellers during the month and coming within a whisker of breaking its all-time monthly record of 56,260, set back in 2019.
Of those March passengers, 55,521 were on commercial flights, with the international market accounting for the lion's share at 46,958 travellers, up 50.2% on the same month last year.
Crucially, domestic passengers also grew strongly, up 50.3% to 8,563. The number of flights operated in March reached 503, a 35% year-on-year increase and already ahead of the 419 flights recorded in March 2019.
Zoom out to the full first quarter and the picture is even more impressive. Corvera handled 131,956 passengers between January and March, up 34.7% on the same period last year and already 8% ahead of the previous all-time quarterly record set in 2019. Total flight movements for the quarter came in at 1,358, up 28.6% on the first three months of 2025.
Now, attention is turning to the summer season, which is just getting underway, with 20 destinations across seven countries available from the terminal. Connectivity to the airport has also been strengthened with the launch of new daily bus services from Murcia city and Cartagena, making it easier and more affordable than ever to get to and from the international hub.
It's worth noting that all of this growth is happening against a backdrop of some uncertainty in the wider aviation industry. Concerns about jet fuel supplies linked to the Iran conflict are being closely watched by airlines across Europe, including Ryanair, which operates from Corvera. For now though, the airport is heading into its busiest period in excellent shape.
