Cheap fuel craze continues in Murcia with the opening of new low-cost filling stations
The budget Plenergy fuel brand is aiming to expand to 500 stations across Spain by 2027

The low-cost petrol station boom in the Region of Murcia shows no signs of slowing down, with Plenergy opening two more service stations in Murcia and Cartagena.
The company, formerly known as Plenoil, now has 21 petrol stations operating across the Region, strengthening its position as the biggest low-cost fuel chain in Murcia ahead of rivals including Ballenoil.
The latest openings are aimed at meeting growing demand from drivers looking for cheaper fuel options as petrol prices continue to fluctuate across Spain.
One of the new stations has opened in Cartagena on Calle Floridablanca and includes two pumps, while the second site, located on Senda de Granada in Murcia city, has four pumps.
Like the company’s other locations, both stations operate 24 hours a day and are monitored by video surveillance systems. Staff are also present during daytime and evening hours throughout the week and weekends.
Plenergy chief executive José Rodríguez de Arellano described the expansion as an important milestone for the company in the Region of Murcia.
“Exceeding 20 stations in the Region of Murcia is a very important strategic step for us, as it allows us to continue consolidating our presence in this community and bringing our model closer to more and more drivers,” he explained.
“With these new openings in Cartagena and Murcia, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to offer users top-quality fuel at the most competitive price on the market, in safe, comfortable and accessible facilities.”
The company is continuing to expand rapidly across Spain as part of a wider growth plan that aims to see Plenergy reach 500 operational petrol stations nationwide by 2027.
Low-cost filling stations have become increasingly popular in many parts of Spain over recent years, particularly in areas with large numbers of commuters and drivers looking to cut everyday costs.
