This is without a doubt the most representative modernist building in the regional capital.
The house was designed by José Antonio Rodríguez, who was commissioned by the learnéd writer Pedro Díaz Cassou. The two façades of the building meet at the main corner, where the line of the cornice is cleverly projected and broken by a simply designed semi-circular balcony adorned with a wrought iron rail.
The interior decoration is splendid, and the pictures are by Pedro García del Bosque, dating from 1907 and 1908.
The construction of the house was controversial in its day, and the struggle between the owners and the Town Hall lasted from 1900 to 1906, an agreement finally being reached in June of that year.
The building is now on temporary loan and is being used to host exhibitions and cultural events.
