CAR Infanta Cristina high performance sports centre in Los Alcázares
The Los Alcázares Sports Technification Centre can also be used by the general public
The CAR Infanta Cristina sports technification centre in Los Alcázares is one of seventeen such facilities throughout Spain, and is designed to provide the best facilities possible for sportsmen and sportswomen to hone their skills in ideal training conditions. The Los Alcázares centre focusses mainly on water sports, particularly sailing, and is widely used by individual sportsmen and teams, both Spanish and from abroad, all of whom can benefit from the calm conditions in the non-tidal Mar Menor all year round.
Travel to the centre from elsewhere in Spain and from abroad is made easy by the proximity of the airports of San Javier (4km) and Alicante-Elche (75km).
The residential area of the centre offers single, double, triple and multiple rooms, all of them modern and airy without being luxurious, and of course there are full reception, cafeteria, dining and recreational services.
The main features, though, are the impressive sports facilities, which on the nautical side include a mooring area and hangar for boats, a launching ramp, a crane and a dry dock. Away from the water the recreational and training facilities include an athletics track, an artificial grass multi-sports pitch, a general gym, a special canoeing gym, a weights room, a swimming pool, a boxing ring, paddle tennis courts, fight and combat rooms, a physiotherapy room, a sports medicine centre, sauna and spa facilities and a pool and billiards area.
Due to the highly specialized nature of the CAR Infanta Cristina a range of conference and seminar rooms are also included in the complex.
This is a highly specialized sports training facility which of course is designed to attract elite athletes from Spain and the rest of Europe, but the facilities are also available to the general public through various types of event. These include 1-day school trips, sporting and nautical camps, end-of-year trips, summer schools and company packages.
