Cádiz sets clear rules for New Year's Eve parties
Ayuntamiento decree balances festive fun with neighbours' right to rest
If you're planning a New Year's Eve bash in Cádiz, the Ayuntamiento has just made things straightforward with a new municipal decree. It's designed to let the celebrations roll while making sure locals can still get some sleep - a fair deal during the busy festive season. The key deadline is Wednesday December 17 for authorisation applications and if you miss it, you´re out of luck. But the good news if you're the licence holder for a party venue, event hall, theatre or auditorium: no extra permit needed, as long as the setup stays the same. But switch up the venue type or bring in a different promoter? You'll need that approval, no exceptions.
Essential paperwork at a glance
Here's what to include:
- Written permission from the licence holder
- Civil liability insurance policy and payment proof, matched to your crowd size (Decree 109/2005)
- For 750+ guests, a security firm contract registered with the Ministry of the Interior (Decree 258/2007)
- Stages, sound towers, lights, tents? Add a technical project and safety certificate
Late submissions or missing docs? Straight rejection. And running a party without the go-ahead could mean an instant shutdown plus fines. The Ayuntamiento is clear: parties are welcome, but "peaceful coexistence" comes first.
It's a practical guide for bar owners, event planners and anyone hosting. Cádiz loves its nightlife, but this keeps everyone happy: revellers, residents and officials alike. Get your papers sorted by December 17, and you could ring in 2026 without a worry.
