Bringing awareness to men's health: Espacio Mediterráneo shopping centre in Cartagena joins Movember
The Centro Comercial Espacio Mediterráneo is taking part in Movember, partnering with cancer charities to encourage early detection and open conversations about male cancer
Espacio Mediterráneo in Cartagena is doing more than just offering places to shop this November. The shopping centre, managed by CBRE, has launched a heartfelt campaign called #SácaloALaLuz, which translates to “Bring it to light”. Its goal is simple but meaningful: to raise awareness of male cancers, particularly prostate, testicular, and male breast cancer, while encouraging men to talk more openly about their health. In partnership with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and the Movember movement, Espacio Mediterráneo is sharing expert information both online and within the shopping centre. Visitors can find educational material prepared by AECC specialists across the mall and on the centre’s digital platforms, including its website, social media channels and mobile app.
Anyone passing through can also scan a special QR code displayed around the centre to access more advice on early detection and prevention. The message is clear: male cancer is treatable, especially when spotted early, but awareness and open discussion are vital.

Adding a touch of humour and community spirit, visitors are invited to pick up a moustache-shaped lollipop from the Information Point. Those who share a fun photo with it on their public Instagram profile, tagging @espaciomediterraneo, will be entered into a prize draw for a gift card. It’s a light-hearted way to support a serious cause and a great excuse to get people talking.
What is Movember?
The campaign ties in with Movember, the global men’s health movement that began in Australia 22 years ago. From those early days of growing moustaches for awareness, Movember has become a worldwide effort tackling prostate and testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.
“The Movember movement is proud to have the support of Espacio Mediterráneo,” a representative said. “With this campaign, we’re reaching more people and amplifying our impact in the region.”
To date, Movember has funded more than 1,300 men’s health projects and raised over £945 million to improve awareness, diagnosis, and care. Their mission is not only to save lives but also to make healthcare more accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all men.

The initiative at Espacio Mediterráneo forms part of CBRE’s broader ‘Caring for communities’ programme. Throughout November, the company is running similar campaigns across 47 of its managed properties in Spain and Portugal, focusing on encouraging prevention, breaking stigma and supporting research into men’s health.
As CBRE puts it, the aim is to make a real and lasting difference within their communities, promoting healthy habits and positive change, one conversation at a time.
