August 8 Free concert by The Carmen Lancho Quartet in the Mazarron Rejazz Festival
The Madrid vocalist performs at the 2024 al fresco Mares de Papel season in Puerto de Mazarrón
Carmen Lancho is one of the most promising new artists on the Spanish jazz scene and comes to Puerto de Mazarrón accompanied by big names such as Álex Conde on piano, Pablo Martín Caminero on double bass and Naima Acuña on percussion to present her latest “vocalese” project.
(Vocalese, for those not in the know, is a technique which uses recognizable pre-exising lyrics to accompany instrumental solos, a technique which was first attributed to the Lambert, Hendricks, and Ross album, “Sing a Song of Basie”).
Enjoy the new wave of Spanish vocalese in Puerto de Mazarrón!.
The show on Thursday August 8th begins at 22.00 at the headland of El Castellar, at the western end of Playa de Bahía (click for map).
Line-up
Carmen Lancho (vocals)
Álex Conde (piano)
Pablo Martín Caminero (double bass)
Daniel García Bruno (percussion)
Note: all events in the Mares de Papel season are free of charge, with no need for prior booking. However, space is limited and an early arrival is recommended, especially in the case of the popular ReJazz events: entry is permitted from half an hour before the advertised start time.
No further admissions will be allowed 15 minutes after the events start. Once inside, eating, drinking and smoking are not permitted, and pets are not allowed to enter.
