August 23 Free open-air concert by Kimaya in the Caravaca village of Barranda

The third event in this summer’s A La Luna de Barranda season features an alchemy of musical styles!

The annual “A La Luna de Barranda” season of free summer evening concerts is being held during the month of August with Spanish musicians delighting the audiences in the cool evenings of the high ground of north-western Murcia.

All of the events begin at 22.00 in the outdoor auditorium of the Museum of Ethnic Instruments in Barranda, which also houses the Blanco Fadol collection, and the third features Kimaya from the Region of Murcia. The word Kimaya comes from the language of Marathi, widely spoken in the Indian provinces of Maharashtra and Goa, and means something akin to “alchemy”, the pseudo-science of combining base elements to form something precious and of vale, and this is what Kimaya attempt to do: they fuse the art of flamenco song with guitar and percussion, passing them through the filter of electronic music, with surprisingly effective results!

Admission to the concert, like all four of those in this season, is free of charge.
