August 21 to 23 Pirate market in Los Alcázares

Bargain opportunities at this fun event on the Paseo de la Concha

The Paseo de la Concha is hosting a Pirate Market next to the Club Náutico (and the beach, of course) over the weekend of 21st to 23rd August, featuring a collection of arts and crafts stands and plenty of opportunities to take in some refreshments (many of them no doubt following the pirate theme.

The stalls open on the shore of the Mar Menor at 18.00 every evening and remain open until midnight.

It's worth remembering that Los Alcázares celebrates its association with the piracy of the Middle Ages everry spring in the annual fiestas of the Berber Pirate Raids. This doesn't mean that the locals are well used to the sight of eyepatched sailors hobbling around on wooden legs with parrots on their shoulders, as the pirates commemorated are the north African warrior attackers who were looting food and people to be sold as slaves, rather than treasure chests and gold! 

Meanwhile, this is certainly a busy weekend, as the Semana de la Huerta y el Mar and the Sol Market comes to an end!
