April 18 Mocedades and Los Panchos on stage in Lorca
Two true legends of Spanish popular music at the Auditorio Margarita Lozano in Lorca!
Many artists are labelled “legends” of popular music in Spain, but when it comes to Mocedades no-one can dispute that the word is appropriate. Formed as long ago as 1967, they are perhaps best remembered for the song “Eres Tú”, which came second at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973 but has endured far longer than the winner, “Tu te reconnaîtras” by Anne-Marie David from Luxembourg.
In fact, in 2004 “Eres tú” was named the best song in the history of Eurovision by a popular vote in the Netherlands, while at the 50th anniversary of the festival it came in in 11th place. The song reached nº 9 in the USA Billboard 100 and was also a hit throughout Europe.
If “Eres tú” is the flagship of Mocedades, so “Si tú me dices ven” will always be associated with Los Panchos, a vocal group originally formed in New York City in 1944 by Mexican and Puerto Rican musicians. Ever since they have been among the leading exponents of the bolero and the romantic ballad and have sold literally hundreds of millions of records with their original compositions and performances of classic folk songs such as "Besame Mucho" and "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas".
If you don’t know them, you’ll love them!
The show on Saturday 18th April at the Auditorio Margarita Lozano in Lorca begins at 20.00 with tickets priced at 29 and 39 euros: click here for online booking.
