The summer swimming pools at the Guadalentín Sports Complex in Alhama de Murcia will reopen this Monday June 29 following a major renovation project that has transformed one of the municipality’s most popular seasonal facilities.

 

The €263,000 investment has focused on both structural repairs and user comfort, with improvements designed to make the complex safer, more modern and more enjoyable for families throughout the summer.

 

At the centre of the work has been the full refurbishment of the main and children’s pool basins, including comprehensive waterproofing to address leaks that had developed in recent years. This has been paired with wider upgrades across the complex aimed at improving both safety and the overall visitor experience.

 

One of the most visible changes is the addition of a new walk-through water fountain with jets, alongside expanded shaded areas created with pergolas and parasols. The beach-style zone around the pools now features artificial turf, while new furniture including sun loungers and picnic tables has been installed to improve comfort for visitors.

 

 

A continuous bench has also been added to extend the relaxation areas, and the on-site snack bar will remain open throughout the season.

 

Behind the scenes, several technical improvements have also been completed. These include the replacement of perimeter drainage gutters, sealing of recessed lighting, and repairs to surge tanks to ensure the correct functioning of the water recirculation system. The changing room floors have been upgraded with non-slip surfaces, while exterior paving has also been renewed. Further improvements are planned with the installation of vertical louvers in the gym area to reduce direct sunlight and improve temperature control.

 

As in previous years, the council will reinforce staffing on the busiest days with additional security personnel working alongside lifeguards to ensure rules are followed and the complex operates smoothly.

 

Alongside the reopening, summer swimming lessons and other sports activities at the Guadalentín complex will also begin on June 29.
