Alhama launches powerful sticker campaign to combat gender violence
Businesses throughout Alhama de Murcia are joining forces to raise awareness and support victims of sexual crimes

The Alhama de Murcia Town Council, through its Women and Equality Department, has introduced an impactful new initiative to combat gender violence and assist victims of sexual assault.
This awareness campaign, supported by local businesses, shops, hospitality establishments and nightlife venues, focuses on the distribution of information stickers featuring essential resources and emergency contact numbers.
Key features of the campaign
The stickers, designed to be visible and accessible, provide crucial information for those who may be at risk or have experienced an assault:
- Guidance for sexual assault victims: Step-by-step instructions for victims, including the importance of preserving evidence by not washing or changing clothes, seeking immediate medical care and contacting authorities such as the local Police or Guardia Civil.
- Recognising gender-based violence: Clear descriptions of abusive and controlling behaviours, encouraging individuals experiencing such situations to seek help immediately.
Highlighted emergency numbers include:
- 016: Support hotline for gender violence cases.
- 112: General emergency services.
Councillor for Women and Equality, Lali Salas, emphasised the importance of the campaign:
"This initiative is another step in our commitment to provide accessible and visible resources for all people who may need help. We want them to know that they are not alone and that there is support available for them in our municipality."
"We deeply appreciate the collaboration of the businesses and establishments that have joined this campaign. Their participation is essential to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone," the councillor added.
This campaign is one of many actions under the Municipal Equality Plan, which aims to raise awareness and provide immediate support to those in need. The Alhama de Murcia Town Council remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting gender equality and ensuring the safety and well-being of all its citizens.
The Council extends its heartfelt thanks to the establishments that have partnered in this initiative, helping to make Alhama de Murcia a safer and more inclusive community.
