Alhama de Murcia is repaving the RM-23 road past Condado
A new road linking the A-7 to the RM-2 is also due to be built

The RM-23 road in the municipality of Alhama de Murcia, which runs past the Condado de Alhama golf resort on the way to Camposol and Mazarrón, is being repaved by the town council.
“This is a much-needed improvement for our residents and for the thousands of people who use this road every day,” said Mayor of Alhama, Rosa Sánchez.
The Regional Minister for Development and Infrastructure, Jorge García, visited the works on the RM-23 along with Mayor Sánchez to review the progress, accompanied by technicians and municipal representatives.
Martínez emphasised that the RM-23 is “a very important structural communication axis, a corridor that connects the RM-2 with the RM-3 and plays a fundamental role in mobility between Alhama, Campo de Cartagena, Totana and Mazarrón”.
The project involves a full resurfacing intended to “optimise safety conditions and strengthen the regional road network”.
He noted that the road carries over 4 million vehicles per year and confirmed an investment of €500,000.
New connecting road to be built

Martínez also announced the reactivation of plans for a direct link between the RM-2 and the A-7, a commitment first made in 2023 and now moving forward.
That route, used by 2.6 million people each year, will “improve mobility and provide direct access from the municipality to the A-7 in the Murcia-Alicante direction,” he said.
Mayor Sánchez added that the work includes improvements to the RM-2, particularly on the bridge where potholes hinder traffic.
“It is positive that progress continues to be made in the maintenance and improvement of roads under regional jurisdiction,” she said.
With high-speed AVE rail works and a planned ring road linked to the new aqueduct, Sánchez said the new connection between the A-7 and the RM-2 would redirect heavy vehicles away from Alhama town centre.
“This new road will relieve the main avenues and also the industrial estate, but for it to be truly functional we need this connection to Murcia,” he said.
Lighting will also be installed at the Industrial Park roundabout, where theft of copper wiring left the area unlit. Solar street lights will replace the old system.
“We have good channels of communication to ensure that this project goes ahead. The Council will offer its full cooperation to make these improvements a reality,” Sánchez concluded.
