The Department of Agriculture in Águilas has started a new round of cleaning and maintenance works along the municipality’s rural roads. The project aims to make travel safer while also reducing the impact of heavy rain and storms expected in the coming months.

 

Councillor Juan Ramón Gallego explained that crews are focusing on clearing undergrowth, vegetation and debris from ditches and road edges. This type of upkeep, he stressed, is essential not only for road safety but also for ensuring that water can flow properly during downpours, reducing the risk of flooding and damage.

 

The work has already been carried out in several key areas including Collado Tortosa, the road to the San Felipe inn, the route from the desalination plant to the Mota farm and the road to Huerta del Abad.

 

In total, more than 100 kilometres of rural roads will be improved as part of this campaign.
