Águilas presents suggested snorkelling routes at 13 beach locations
Easy underwater tourism for all the family along the Mediterranean coast of Águilas
The routes are In their drive to encourage “blue tourism”, the Town Hall of Águilas has created a guide to snorkelling at 13 of the beaches in the municipality, providing an attractive way for all the family to explore the underwater fauna of the Mediterranean coast without the need to don oxygen bottles and special equipment.
All that is needed is a snorkel, a mask and a pair of flippers, and you can explore a series of suggested snorkelling sites, mostly in depths of up to 3 metres (the maximum is 5 metres, which still allows for clear visibility as long as the sea conditions are not too rough!).
Outgoing Mayoress Mari Carmen Moreno, who recently announced her voluntary retirement from the post, underlines that this initiative falls within the local Sustainable Tourism Plan financed by EU Next Generation funds, and that each suggested route comes with information about the degree of difficulty, safety measures and respect for the environment as well as information regarding some of the creatures you are most likely to come across as you survey the underwater world.
The routes can be seen online here (interactive) and here (more detailed), and are located at the beaches of Los Cocedores, La Carolina, Cama de los Novios, Calarreona, Cala Tortuga, Cocedores del Hornillo, Playa Amarilla (opposite Isla del Fraile), Playa del Arroz, La Cola, Playa Canalicas, Calabardina, Ensenada de la Fuente and La Galera.
Enjoy your snorkelling along the coast of Águilas!
