Águilas installs new charging points for electric vehicles and bicycles
The new stations will allow up to four electric cars and six e-bikes to charge at once

Águilas Town Council has begun installing new charging points for electric vehicles and electric bicycles.
The works are part of the Destination Cohesion Action “Blue Tourism of the Destination of the Region of Murcia 2023”, which is funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU funds.
The contract has been awarded for just under €60,000 and the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The new electric vehicle charging point will be located in the southern section of the car park near the fairgrounds, which is about to receive its own major upgrade. It’s a key area close to several popular tourist spots including the Levante promenade, the blue trail “12,000 Pasos Tres Bahías” and the EuroVelo 8 cycle route.
Two stations will be installed, allowing up to four vehicles to charge at once. The area will also be fitted with signs, beacons and safety features.
The charging point for electric bikes will be placed in the Plaza de la Guardia Civil. This will include three charging stations for a total of six bicycles at once. It’s located close to many of Águilas’ tourist attractions and the Poniente promenade, which also runs along the 12,000 Pasos Tres Bahías blue path and the EuroVelo 8.
“Both projects are part of the municipality's commitment to energy efficiency, the reduction of CO₂ emissions and the promotion of electric mobility. With these actions, Águilas is positioned as a destination increasingly committed to sustainability and innovation in tourist infrastructure,” said mayor Mari Carmen Moreno.
