9 Michelin recommended restaurants in and around Murcia
Traditional Mediterranean and Japanese cuisine with guaranteed quality, taste and creativity!
The big news for the Region of Murcia when the 2026 Michelin Guide was unveiled was the inclusion among the starred restaurants of Barahonda in Yecla, bringing the total for the Costa Cálida up to 5, but at the same time another 9 establishments were recognized on the “Recommended” list of the guide.
This means that while they can still only aspire to the prestige of a Michelin star, they can proudly display a plaque in recognition of their quality, taste and creativity, and all of them are well worth a visit for a great meal or a very special occasion!
Those receiving the distinction in 2026 are the following:
Taúlla (Murcia)
The ethos of Taúlla is tradition and innovation with a personal touch. The restaurant is inside an old paprika mill dating from 1925, in the district of Espinardo in the north of the city (Calle Antonio Flores Guillamón, 2) and this historic venue is now home to a unique gastronomic experience.
The basis of the cuisine is fresh produce from the Region of Murcia taken to new territory by modern techniques and hints of the cooking from, other parts of the world, an approach which chef Rodi Fernández describes as “fun with a bit of the rascal in it”. The two menus are priced at 69 and 79 euros.
El Albero (Ceutí)
El Albero (Calle Mallorca, 10) has many years of experience and specializes in re-inventing old favourites with a creative and contemporary touch. Heading up the team are chefs Cundi Sánchez and Tomás Écija, who work with locally sourced produce and well-known recipes, but raise them to levels of technical excellence and superb presentation.
Diners can choose between a tasting menu and à la carte in a welcoming ambience, knowing that the respect for gastronomic tradition is one of the factors which has led to El Albero achieving a Repsol Sun and now a recommendation in the 2026 Michelin Guide.
Alborada (Murcia)
Restaurante Alborada is a classic for gastronomes in Murcia, located in Calle Andrés Baquero and offering the whole range of Mediterranean cooking with a creative touch and plenty of respect for local produce. The menu includes rice dishes, fresh meat and fish, and there are always recommendations for those wishing to go “off-menu”.
Chef David Muñoz Sánchez presides over an atmosphere which is both elegant and welcoming, ideal for informal lunches as well as special occasions and with a degree of culinary excellence which visitors will not forget in a hurry!
Keki (Murcia)
Restaurante Keki at Calle Fuensanta nº 4 has become one of the most iconic eateries in the city of Murcia, just a few yards from the Cathedral and offering diners a creative concept of Mediterranean cuisine which includes tapas and plenty of Asian influences.
The menu includes old favourites such as croquetas and marineras but re-invented in a unique fashion, as well as tuna tataki and aged beef hamburgers, all accompanied by a top class wine list and off-menu specialities according to the season.
Local de Ensayo (Murcia)
Local de Ensayo at Calle Fuensanta nº 5 in Murcia, right next door to Keki, is a creative and contemporary restaurant right in the heart of Murcia, where chef David López provides his experimental and meticulous dishes with exquisite presentation.
The premises are renovated and elegant and the full menu stands alongside three tasting menus with the suggestive names of Tradición, Endocardio and Desfibrilador. Without a doubt this is one of the most interesting restaurants in Murcia for true gastronomes.
Kappou Makoto (Murcia)

Kappou Makoto is a highly exclusive Japanese restaurant with a waiting list of months and no online booking service, located in Calle Historiador Juan Torres Fontes in the south of the city of Murcia. The unique dining experience it offers is based on the Japanese traditions of kappō and omakase.
Chef Makoto Himeno prepares seasonal tasting menus featuring the very best ingredients, many of them brought fresh from local markets and from the coastal fishing ports: a perfect combination of Murcian produce and Japanese techniques.
Demo (Murcia)
Demo is a restaurant specializing in contemporary market cuisine, located right next to the Cathedral of Murcia in Plaza de Hernández Amores. Here chef Pepe Morales offers the taste of Murcia, with dishes such as hake salad, bacon rashers with sweet potato parmentier, Demo artichokes and cod “al pilpil”.
The menu of Demo is accompanied by a wine list recommended personally by the chef to bring out the best of both the food and the wine.
Por Herencia (Murcia)
Por Herencia is located in Plaza Sancho, Calle Cánovas del Castillo, near the bull ring of Murcia, and is characterized by the intimate and modern dining experience. This is born out of a family tradition with decades of experience in the profession, and chef Miguel Hernández makes the most of the produce of the “huerta”. The results reflect local culinary tradition with a range of dishes from shrimp tartare to a variety of creative combinations which will give you a pleasant surprise!
Polea (Murcia)
Polea Restaurante is in the Barrio del Carmen on the southern side of the river in Murcia and was set up by a couple who decided to return to Spain after many years abroad. They have built a culinary reputation based on local produce, and the menu constantly varies according to the availability of the ingredients.
The seasonal menu is priced at around 50 euros (drinks not included) and is served in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, an approach which has earned them very high ratings among frequent customers and now a recommendation in the 2026 Michelin Guide.
