1 in 10 rental searches in Murcia comes from foreigners
German, British and French nationals lead demand in the Region

A study by property platform idealista shows that 11.6% of all rental searches in the Region of Murcia during the first quarter of the year came from foreigners. Among them, Germans accounted for 11%, the British 10% and the French 9%.
The report highlights that coastal and tourist provinces attract the greatest foreign interest. At the national level, the Balearic Islands top the list, where almost three in ten rental searches (29.1%) come from abroad. Alicante follows with 27.4%, then Málaga (25.7%) and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (21.9%).
Among Spain’s main residential markets, Valencia leads with 17% of rental searches from foreigners, ahead of Barcelona (15.3%) and Madrid (9.1%).
Overall, most demand originates from European countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands and Italy. However, searches also come from outside Europe, particularly the United States, Argentina, Morocco and Colombia.
The profile of international demand varies by region. In the Balearic Islands, for example, 39% of foreign rental searches come from Germany, far ahead of the United Kingdom (9%) and Italy (7%).
According to idealista, this interest reflects the ongoing appeal of Spain’s Mediterranean and island provinces, where climate, lifestyle and transport links make them especially attractive for international renters.
In the case of Murcia, the figure of more than one in ten rental searches coming from abroad underlines the region’s growing visibility among foreigners, especially northern Europeans. This demand adds to local interest and highlights Murcia as an increasingly competitive market in Spain’s wider rental sector.
